Why do we need to address food insecurity?
Those in Need
According to Feeding America, in the United States, there are more than 47 million people face food insecurity, including 1 in every 5 children. Food insecurity is a driving factor that leads to chronic illness, stress, depression, poor academic capacity, crime, and malnutrition. It is imperative that local communities come together to help out those in need and offer them vital resources to grow and break out of the cycle of poverty. This will help create new opportunities and brighter futures for many Americans.

Food Waste and Climate Change
The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that each year, United States food waste embodies 170 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gas emissions. Considering that tens of millions of Americans face food insecurity, reducing food waste through the donation of unused food will help fight against both food insecurity and our growing climate issues.
